What We Do
Residential Concrete Houston TX
JG Sports Surface pours residential concrete across Houston and greater Texas — driveways, patios, walkways, pool decks, slabs, and pads. Houston's expansive clay soils require special preparation that most crews skip. We do it right the first time.

Built for Houston Soil
Houston sits on Beaumont clay — one of the most expansive soils in the country. It shrinks in drought and swells after rain, which is why so many Houston driveways and patios crack within a few years. Our process addresses this with proper sub-base preparation, reinforcement, and control joint placement.
Every residential pour includes compacted sub-base, rebar or fiber reinforcement, proper drainage slope, and sealed control joints — not just because the code requires it, but because it makes the concrete last 30+ years instead of 5.

Patios & Outdoor Living
Backyard patio slabs, covered patio extensions, and outdoor entertaining areas. We integrate drainage slope so rainwater flows away from your foundation. Decorative finishes, stamped patterns, or exposed aggregate for aesthetic appeal.

Pool Decks
Non-slip broom finish surrounds that stay safe and comfortable in Houston heat. We use cool deck coatings and light-colored aggregate that won't burn bare feet in July. Proper drainage away from the pool equipment area and towards yard drains.

Pads & Slabs
AC unit pads, generator bases, storage shed slabs, hot tub bases, and sport court sub-slabs. Sized and reinforced to the load they'll carry. We pour the concrete slab and can resurface it for a sport court — full package in one call.

Steps & Landings
Entry steps, garage approaches, door landings, and retaining steps for grade changes. Properly formed with filled risers, non-slip nosing, and adequate width. Built level even as Houston soil shifts — we account for settling in the forming process.
Our Process
How We Pour
Site Assessment & Layout
We mark the area, check grade, confirm drainage direction, and flag any underground utilities. This step prevents surprises once we start excavating.
Excavation & Sub-Base
We excavate 6"–8" and compact a crushed stone sub-base layer. This is what most Houston crews skip — and it's why their concrete cracks.
Form Setting & Reinforcement
Steel forms are set to the finished grade. Rebar grid or fiber mesh is placed at the correct height within the slab — not on the ground where it does nothing.
Pour & Finish
We pour and finish to your chosen texture. Broom finish provides traction. We hand-edge every joint and border for a clean, professional look.
Control Joints & Curing
Control joints are cut or tooled at proper intervals. We apply a curing compound and keep the slab moist for 7 days. This step doubles the concrete's strength.
